(Knoxville, Tenn.) Production and marketing issues are the central themes for the 2004 field days and special events scheduled by the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture. Hosted by UT agricultural experiment stations across the state, the 2004 field days include five events tailored to meet the needs of livestock and crop producers, one event that will cater to nursery professionals and one event specifically designed for lawn and gardening enthusiasts. After taking 2003 off, the Milan No-Till Field Day returns in 2004 with a renewed focus on issues related to conservation tillage production and sustainable agriculture. Mark your calendars now to attend the 2004 UT Field Days: Beef Field Day, May 4 Beef and Forage Field Day, June 10 Garden Industry Field Day, June 29 Summer Celebration (lawn & garden information), July 8 Tobacco Field Day, July 13 Milan No-Till Field Day, July 22 Steak and Potatoes Field Day, August 3 In addition to the field days, the university will hold three special events. The Tobacco Experiment Station in Greeneville will co-host the Southeastern Expo. This two-day trade show is expected to attract thousands on June 18 and 19. The theme focuses on agricultural marketing techniques. The Knoxville Experiment Station's second annual Blooms Days will be held at the UT Gardens June 26 and 27, and the Ames Plantation in Grand Junction will hold its seventh annual Heritage Festival on October 9. All events are open to the public. The University of Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Station system includes 11 research facilities located across the state. Their mission is to enhance the quality of life in the state and beyond through agricultural and natural resource research and advancements.
