(MEMPHIS) – The University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service and the Agricenter International have formed a new partnership that promises to benefit West Tennessee and the Mid-South region.

At the core of this partnership is a shared employee, Tim Roberts, who will serve as an agricultural Extension agent and Agricenter instructor. Roberts is charged with offering a new educational service at the Agricenter to enlighten adults and youth in subjects related to agriculture and environmental sciences.

Roberts is former Extension Agent from Haywood and Crockett counties who most recently worked for the University of Missouri Outreach and Extension. He re-joined UT Extension and the Agricenter International July 1.

Roberts is housed at the Agricenter, and his responsibilities include planning tours, environmental activities, demonstration crop plots and educational seminars for both youth and adults in agriculture. His services are available at no charge to the city of Memphis, Shelby and surrounding counties, and to private and home school groups.

“We are excited about the new opportunities for Agricenter and are glad to have Tim on the staff,” said John Charles Wilson, president of Agricenter International. “We are looking forward to the new partnership with the University of Tennessee Extension Service and to expanding the services that we offer at the Agricenter,” states Wilson.

“The Agricenter International is an important link between West Tennessee’s rural and urban communities,” said Dr. Charles Norman, dean of UT Extension. “The University is pleased to add this dimension to our existing services in the region.”
