(CROSSVILLE, Tenn.) – Some familiar American food staples will
be the focus of an event for agricultural producers on August 5 at the
University of Tennessee Plateau Experiment Station in Crossville. Field day participants will hear discussions related to beef production including nutrition, Bermuda grass and fescue management, post-weaning programs, and hay storage and feeding. One tour will feature management techniques used by the Plateau Experiment Station. A tour of the station's vegetable variety trials will feature peppers,
sweet corn, tomatoes, and pumpkins. Other topics of interest to producers
will include successful marketing strategies, small fruit production,
wildlife management, and new opportunities for greenhouse production.
The Plateau Experiment Station is one of 11 branch research units in
the Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Station system. It is located on
U.S. Hwy 70N in Crossville. Take exit 311 off I-40 and travel south for
1.5 miles until it dead-ends into Hwy 70N. Turn left and follow Hwy 70N
for approximately 3 miles. Turn left on Experiment Station Road at the
