(KNOXVILLE, Tenn.) – Agriculture affects everyone, so everyone is invited to join alumni at Ag Day, the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture's homecoming celebration. This event is scheduled for Saturday, September 23, just prior to the UT - Marshall home football game. Ag Day will include interactive displays and exhibits that highlight the activities of UTIA's various academic departments and their research and outreach activities - especially their contributions to food and fiber production, food nutrition, forestry, wildlife and fisheries and human and animal welfare. The day's schedule will also include musical entertainment, an antique tractor display, an insect petting zoo and a visit from UT's canine mascot "Smokey." Special activities for children are also planned. Ag Day will begin at noon - four hours prior to the kickoff for the UT - Marshall football game. A variety of free snacks will be available, but those with hearty appetites may purchase a meal from the UT Student Cattlemen's Association. The UT Institute of Agriculture is located on Neyland Drive. Parking is available for Ag Day on campus, and visitors are encouraged to come early. Attendants will be on site to direct traffic. A map is available online at http://casnr.tennessee.edu/maps_directions/.
