Welcome to Extreme Summer Camp, otherwise known as 4-H Ed-Venture. You get the combo - education with adventure. Zipping and rock climbing are just a couple of the things these kids do.
Your grandads’ old summer camp doesn’t cut it in oh-8. This is a new generation that wants entertainment and action. If you’re coming to Ed-Venture, pack extra courage and determination.
Chris Brown is a 4-H’er from Pickett county.

“I can actually challenge myself to my limits and I can do other stuff I won’t be able to do the rest of my life.”
Chuck Denney
The key word there is challenge - as in meeting one and exceeding it. If a kid learns to overcome a challenge in this setting, think what they can do when a real world obstacle comes later. Daniel Sarver is with Tennessee 4-H.
Daniel Sarver
“The message of this camp is about team-building and getting challenged and learning what to do when they are challenged. Kids need to go through a small amount of adversity and understand what to do when that happens.”
Chuck Denney
As for the education part, 4-H’ers learn about nature, but also themselves.
Nat Sound
“Feet down, bend those knees, bend those knees. There we go.”
Chuck Denney
Here a group must get all its members through a ropes course. Kids hear the most effective method is first thinking it through and then working together. Kendra Nixon is a 4-H’er from Smith County.

“It taught us about how we trust our friends and teamwork, and if we were in school and we saw somebody struggling, we would help them.”
Chuck Denney
Education and adventure come in many forms, and this camp is proof you can get both in one setting
